The Situation:
The Town of Hanover, Massachusetts, looking to reduce it’s increasing maintenance and energy costs recognizes retrofitting dim T8 fluorescent with a greener LED option would deliver bright, high-quality light, while helping reduce energy consumption and costs. The current lighting was dingy and yellow, making it difficult to see and conditions less safe for employees. Another issue was that there was severe deferred maintenance issues between burned out lamps and aged ballasts.

The Solution:
FSC Lighting’s L8500 Series LED Strip was chosen to retrofit the T8 fluorescent fixtures throughout the shop, dropping lighting costs by 65%. By retrofitting the 158 watt strips with FSC’s 50 watt L8500 Series, the Town of Hanover will use 14,602 fewer kilowatt hours (kWh) per year, an annual savings of approximately $2,219. FSC Lighting’s 50 watt LED Light Bar was not only able to save energy consumption, but drastically improved light levels. In addition, Guardian Energy Management Solutions was able to work with their customer to implement a lighting control strategy without breaking the budget. By using the L8500 Series they were able to onboard on/off occupancy sensors on the new channel covers. Other solutions considered would have required additional labor.
